Graduate Research Assistantship Available

One Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) is available for a highly motivated student to begin in Summer or Fall 2026 in the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU). This assistantship is fully funded, covering full tuition and a competitive stipend.

The selected student will work in the Integrated Construction Informatics Laboratory (ICIL) under the supervision of Dr. Fei Dai. This Ph.D. position is supported by a recently awarded National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded research project.

Research areas include immersive VR/AR learning environments, construction materials and sustainability, learning analytics, building information modeling (BIM), data science, computer vision and machine learning, and construction visualization. The student will pursue a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with the dissertation topic tailored to the student’s interests and background.


Minimum Requirements :

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field; strong interest in Ph.D. research.


Preferred background:

VR/AR, construction materials or sustainability, programming (Python/MATLAB/C++), data analytics, machine learning, computer vision, BIM, or engineering education research.
