Graduate Research Assistantship Available

Currently one PhD research assistantship is available for student researcher who would like to start in Spring or Fall 2022 at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the West Virginia University. This assistantship will cover the tuition and stipend in full. The prospective student will work at the Integrated Construction Informatics Laboratory (ICIL) under the direction of Dr. Fei Dai.

This student is expected to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with the special area in Construction Informatics. The research topic will include, but not limited to, data sensing and analytics, data science, machine and statistical learning, automated jobsite safety and health, construction ergonomics, signal processing, applied photogrammetry for 3D modeling, quantity surveying, and augmented reality, image processing and computer vision, non-destructive evaluation of civil infrastructure, and mobile computing. The advisor will work with the student to identify the most suitable topic for the student based on his/her academic interests and background.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 

Knowledge and experiences related to two or more of the following areas: 

1) mixed reality and human behavior assessment, 

2) jobsite safety and/or musculoskeletal health, 

3) programming skill in Python, C/C++, Objective-C, C#, or/and Matlab, 

4) machine learning and computer vision,

5) robotics and exoskeletons, and 

7) photogrammetry, non-contact surveying, and geoinformatics. Applicants with a master degree will be preferred.
